HOW CAN WE TELL A FALSE TEACHER?

 



The Bible has a lot to say about false teachers. It was a serious problem in the early church and still is up to this present day. False teachers will deviate, add, or take away from the word of God. False teaching is dangerous, deceptive and leads people away from God instead of toward Him. The Lord Jesus Christ warned against false teachers (Matthew7:15-23, Mark 13:5,6) The apostle Peter discusses in detail the danger and destructiveness of the evil ministry of false teachers whose interest are not in God, but in self- glorification and worldly lusts (2 Peter 2). John the apostle warns the believers not to be deceived by the false doctrines being spread and encourages Christians to beware of that spirit of antichrist, and to test the spirits to see whether they are from God or not (1 John 4:1-3). Jude warns believers need to beware of false teachers infiltrating the churches (Jude). Paul the apostle instructs Titus to rebuke false teachers (Titus 1:10-16), and predicts the coming of false teachers (1 Timothy 4:1-3).

And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. Mark 13:5,6 KJV

 

False teachers hold their follower’s captive with a false gospel adding works to the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who teach faith and works to be saved, deny the truth of God’s word, that salvation is a free gift of grace, wholly dependent on faith in Jesus Christ alone. As Paul the apostle says in the Book of Galatians if any man preaches any other gospel unto you than that you have received, let him be accursed.

 

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:6-9 KJV

 

Satan transforms himself and his ministers into an angels of light, false teachers, masquerade as servants of righteousness, in many organized religions, the isms of the world following their leaders like Mormonism, Catholicism, Islamism, Seventh day Adventism, Judaism etc these systems are counterfeit, with many deceitful workers preaching another gospel, faith and works based, to be saved instead of believing and putting their faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone and the finished work of the cross of Calvary. There are many religions that claim to know and believe in Jesus, but that does not mean they’re referring to the same Jesus of the Bible. Example: Mormonism believes that Jesus is the spirit brother of Lucifer; Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that Jesus is Michael the Archangel; Muslims believe that Jesus is just a prophet; and Bahais believe that Jesus is a messenger, these are certainly not the Jesus of the Holy Bible.

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Sometimes it is difficult to recognize a false teacher and the most effective way to defend the truth of God against false teachers is to be led by the Holy Spirit (John14:26, Romans 8:14) and carefully examine what they say to see if it is in line with God’s word, just like the Bereans did in Acts 17. We can also identify false teachers by reading and studying the word of God, the Holy Bible.

 

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Acts 17:11 KJV

 

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV

 

Tragically, many are misled and deceived about the most important issue of their lives: their eternal destination (Heaven or Hell). Please do not be carried away by false teachers, who preach lies, false doctrine, craftiness, deceit and pervert the true gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Bible, must be the only standard to examine yourself and others by. You need to be born again, get out of that system, believe, repent and put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone to save you through His precious blood that will cleanse you from all sin. There is no other route to eternal life, there is only one way and Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

 

And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. Mark 1:15 KJV

 

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 KJV

GOD’S GRACE

 



G.R.A.C.E. is God’s Righteousness At Christ's Expense. Truly, we cannot fathom God’s grace as we cannot fully fathom God Almighty (Romans 11:33–36, Isaiah 55:8–9). The word Grace is mentioned 170 times in the King James Version, of the Holy Bible with the first reference in (Genesis 6:8) and the last in (Revelation 22:21). Grace is God’s great mercy and unmerited favour towards sinners. God gives grace, though we don’t deserve it. God’s grace is freely given and cannot be earned. The Lord Jesus Christ is the representation of grace and truth; He is the dispenser of grace.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14 KJV

Grace reflects the all-sufficient work of the Lord Jesus Christ through the finished work of the cross of Calvary and therefore, is the only means by which sinners can be saved through faith in Christ alone. Salvation is a free gift completely dependent on God’s grace and cannot be earned through good works, self-righteousness or efforts to save oneself or to stay saved.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8,9 KJV

God's grace offers forgiveness to mankind when you believe, repent, and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. Grace does not stop once saved; we are made heirs of eternal life. Grace justifies us before a holy God.

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. Hebrews 8:12 KJV

That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:7 KJV

Grace grants us access by faith to have an intimate relationship and fellowship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ, led by the Holy Spirit, and continually sustains, upholds, and helps us through each and every day.

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:2 KJV

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16 KJV

God's grace grants you a place in heaven eternally with Him if you receive His offer of the free gift of salvation when you believe, repent, and trust in Jesus Christ alone, through His death, burial, resurrection, and His precious blood that will cleanse you from all sin.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12 KJV

FRUITS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

 



 
There are nine fruits of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Bible-believing, born-again Christian.When we yield and are led of the Holy Spirit then these fruits are displayed and pleasing in God’s sight.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 KJV

Love – We cannot produce the type of love God desires without the leading and strength of the Holy Spirit. This love is God’s love working in us and through us.

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
1 John 4:10,11 KJV

Joy - Our greatest reason to be joyful is that God has saved us, and we will spend eternity with Him in heaven, which is the result of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in and love the Lord Jesus; despite not having seen Him physically, we live by faith (Romans 1:17). We rejoice that our names are written in the Book of Life (Revelation 21:27).

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. 1Peter 1:8,9 KJV

Peace - We have peace with God because we have already been forgiven of all sins and justified by faith, as if we’ve never sinned. This is only possible through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Romans 5:1 KJV

Longsuffering - God continually forbears with us, and by His grace, we should demonstrate the love of God with longsuffering and forbearance to one another, especially to brothers and sisters in Christ.

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Ephesians 4:2 KJV

Gentleness - Reflects the character of God, who is kind, compassionate, and gracious towards us. The Lord Jesus gave us the perfect picture of gentleness.

He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young. Isaiah 40:11 KJV

Goodness - Only God is good! When we are led by the Holy Spirit, His goodness, righteousness, and truth are displayed. 

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
Ephesians 5:9 KJV

Faithfulness - God Himself is totally faithful. He is faithful to keep the promises He has made. 

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Hebrews 10:23 KJV

Meekness - Describes how we are to humble and rely on God rather than ourselves or the people that surround us.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 KJV

TemperanceThe ability to have self-control to overcome temptation of sin not in our own strength but through the Holy Spirit.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV

The Bible makes it very clear that the believer is sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise the moment they believe, repent and trust in Jesus Christ alone as Lord and Saviour through His death, burial, resurrection, and His precious blood shed on the cross to save us from all sin.

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Ephesians 1:13 KJV

THERE ARE ONLY TWO TYPES OF PEOPLE

 


There are only two types of people on earth. Believers and unbelievers of the Lord God Almighty. There are those who are for God and those who are against God. Those who are forgiven and justified by faith in Jesus Christ alone, and those who are unforgiven and unjustified, the saved and the unsaved. Those who are uncondemned and believe, and those who are condemned in their unbelief, those who are humble and those who are proud. Those who are prepared for Christ’s coming and shall be redeemed, and those who are unredeemed and wilfully unprepared. All who have ever lived belong to one of these two types of people and will have two eternal destinations, either in heaven or hell.

 Believers are free from condemnation. Unbelievers are condemned.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18 KJV

Believers are forgiven and justified by faith. Unbelievers are under God’s wrath.

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Romans 5:1 KJV

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36 KJV

Believers walk in the light. Unbelievers love darkness.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12 KJV

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. John 3:19 KJV

Believers seek God for refuge. Unbelievers do not seek after God.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 KJV

The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. Psalm 10:4 KJV

Believers are under God’s grace. Unbelievers are under God’s law.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Ephesians 2:8 KJV

Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Romans 3:19 KJV

Believers are children of God. Unbelievers are enemies of God.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12 KJV

(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Philippians 3:18 KJV

Believers are on the narrow way to life eternal in heaven. Unbelievers are on the broad way to destruction and will live in eternal agony in hell.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matthew 7:13,14 KJV

When Christ Jesus returns there will be two types of people who will be separated from one another forever. They are described as the sheep and the goats, separated from one another by Lord Jesus Christ the Good Shepherd. The sheep are blessed by God and will be in heaven with Him while the goats will be cast into everlasting fire (Matthew 25:31-46 KJV).

Are you a believer or unbeliever in the Lord Jesus Christ? Is God going to be your Saviour or your Judge on the day of judgement? Where will you end up in Heaven or Hell? Please examine yourself which type of person are you?

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest news anyone could ever receive. The forgiveness of sins is offered as a free gift (Romans 6:23). Through His death, burial and resurrection, Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross of Calvary over two thousand years ago. He paid for our sins in full (John 19:30). When you believe, repent and trust in Jesus Christ alone as your Lord and Saviour, change direction from unbelief to belief in Jesus Christ alone, then all your sins are forgiven past, present and future. You will be filled with the Holy Spirit, born-again and your place in heaven is prepared for you.

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Ephesians 1:7 KJV

GOOD WORKS CANNOT SAVE YOU

 



We usually share the gospel when we have an opportunity, wherever we go. Most of the time, we ask questions like, "Do you think there is an afterlife? Do you know where you are going after you die? Mostly the answer is, "I don’t know, or I hope I’m going to heaven because I’m a good person and done good works." People who answered this way usually have not read the Holy Bible, the instruction Book for Life itself. They have the wrong idea that as long as their good works outweigh their bad, God will let them into heaven. The Bible reminds us that all our good works, or righteous acts, are like filthy rags, there is none good no not one, only God is good, righteous, just and holy.

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Isaiah 64:6 KJV

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: Romans 3:10 KJV

Tragically, there are many who trust their own self-righteousness and good works to save them from going to hell. In fact, many think that the way to have their sins forgiven is to say "I’m sorry" and then do good works, but that won’t work in a court of law. In a court of law, you stand before the judge and tell the judge, "I’ve broken the law and committed a crime, but I want to tell you I’m a good person and done many good works." The judge will say, you’re not here for your good works; you are here because of the crime you committed, and for your crime only shall you be judged not for your good works. If that doesn't work in man's court, how much more in God's court, on the day of judgement? God will not judge you by your good works but according to His standard the Ten Commandments and the sins you have committed towards Him in thought, word and deed. God is forgiving and merciful, but He is also the God of justice, truth, and righteousness.

For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Ecclesiastes 12:14 KJV

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 KJV

The Ten Commandments convict our hearts of sin and show us how desperately wicked we are and therefore need a Saviour. If you lie, you’re a liar (Proverbs 19:5), if you stole anything regardless of the value even once, you’re a thief (Exodus 20:15), if you looked with lust, you’re an adulterer at heart (Matthew 5:27,28), if you took God’s name in vain, you’re a blasphemer (Exodus 20:7), if you hate someone, you’re a murderer at heart (1 John 3:15).  You can never boost of your good works to make it to heaven because it is purely by God’s grace and by faith in Jesus Christ alone. We cannot earn salvation by our good works; good works are the result of salvation.

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. Galatians 3:24 KJV

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.  Ephesians 2:8-10 KJV

Some people asked Jesus, what shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus immediately points them to faith, that you believe in Him whom the Father have sent.

Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. John 6:29 KJV

The Bible is clear that salvation is a free gift, not through works that we have done but according to His mercy. Those who believe, repent and put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone as your Saviour and Lord (born-again, will have everlasting life) and what He has done for you through the death, burial and resurrection. No good works can ever save you only by the precious blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on the cross of Calvary.

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:15 KJV

But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. Galatians 3:22 KJV

ARE YOU IN UNBELIEF?

 



Jesus Christ preached and performed many miracles in His time. Many people were delivered from bondages of sin, saved, and reconciled to God. There were many eyewitnesses to the resurrected Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:5-8, and the Gospels), yet many were also in unbelief. The act of unbelief is a deliberate choice. The Holy Bible is the greatest-selling book in the world of all time, with over 5 billion copies sold. It is the instruction book for life itself. People hear the word of God preached throughout the entire world, on the streets, television, social media, etc., yet many are still in unbelief nowadays.

The Bible says that the Lord Jesus Christ died for the sin of all mankind and that His holy sacrifice was sufficient to pay for the sins of the whole world. It means that the offering of forgiveness for sins for the whole world has been made.

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2 KJV

That does not mean that everyone will automatically be forgiven. Those who die in unbelief have rejected the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ and are therefore unforgiven. They will face the wrath of God and will end up with an everlasting punishment in hell.

I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. John 8:24 KJV

And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 13:50 KJV

When you look at the sun, moon, stars, planets, sky, trees, and a newborn baby, even the intricacy of our eyes all prove there’s an intelligent Creator. God reveals Himself in His creation. There is no excuse for unbelief.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Romans 1:18-20 KJV

The Bible says Satan has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe, and those who don’t believe and trust in Jesus Christ alone to be saved are condemned already.

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18 KJV

God loves you and wants you to be reconciled to Him to save you from the impending judgement, which is in the eternal torment of hell. God sent His only begotten Son to take the punishment of our sins in Himself.

To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:19 KJV

When you believe in Jesus Christ alone through His death, burial, and resurrection and His precious blood that was shed on the cross of Calvary to save sinners, repent, change your mind from unbelief to belief, from the rejection of Jesus Christ to the faith in Jesus Christ, then all your sins are forgiven, past, present and future. You will be born-again, sealed with the Holy Spirit, changed from within, and moulded to be a vessel for His glory.

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 1:7,13KJV

FORGIVING OTHERS

 



We have all been hurt, wronged, and offended in our lives, and we have also done the same to others. Sin is the root of all evil. We are imperfect people with a sinful nature. Adam and Eve disobeyed God Almighty in the Garden of Eden, and human beings have been sinning against God ever since. Adam’s sin led him to die spiritually. We inherited Adam and Eve’s sin; original sin is the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3).

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12 KJV

Forgiveness is an important part of the life of a Bible-believing, born-again Christian. We have to forgive others just as God has forgiven us.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:31,32 KJV

Forgiving others means letting go of bitterness, resentfulness, anger, and hurt you have experienced, as this only causes tumult within and much pain. Unforgiveness is sin that leads to self-righteousness and being self-centred instead of Christ-centred, which steals our love, joy, and peace. When we forgive, we are reconciled and restored within, which leads us to display the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22,23 KJV

We are told to cast off the old sin nature and put on love, forbearing and forgiving one another.

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. Colossians 3:13 KJV

How often should we forgive one another? Jesus said:

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Matthew 18:21,22 KJV

Those who are in Christ have been forgiven by God. Although it is not easy sometimes to forgive those who wronged us, we are to trust God for justice, and we must forgive the other person who offended us.

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Romans 12:19 KJV

You should be aware of the importance of having your name written in the book of life, because if not, hell is waiting, and that is not God’s will for you. Be sure you’re saved!

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15

God Almighty provided a way for everyone to be saved, and that way is through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. God provided a Saviour for all humanity, and it is up to you to appropriate the atonement by receiving, believing, repent and trust in Jesus Christ alone through His death, burial, and resurrection, and His holy and precious blood will cleanse you from all sin. In Jesus Christ, we have redemption—the forgiveness of sins.
