FRUITS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

There are nine fruits of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Bible-believing, born-again Christian. When we yield and are led of the Holy Spirit then these fruits are displayed and pleasing in God’s sight.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

Love – We cannot produce the type of love God desires without the leading and strength of the Holy Spirit. This love is God’s love working in us and through us.

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
1 John 4:10,11

Joy - Our greatest reason to be joyful is that God has saved us, and we will spend eternity with Him in heaven, which is the result of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in and love the Lord Jesus; despite not having seen Him physically, we live by faith (Romans 1:17). We rejoice that our names are written in the Book of Life (Revelation 21:27).

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. 1Peter 1:8,9

Peace - We have peace with God because we have already been forgiven of all sins and justified by faith, as if we’ve never sinned. This is only possible through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Romans 5:1

Longsuffering - God continually forbears with us, and by His grace, we should demonstrate the love of God with longsuffering and forbearance to one another, especially to brothers and sisters in Christ.

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Ephesians 4:2

Gentleness - Reflects the character of God, who is kind, compassionate, and gracious towards us. The Lord Jesus gave us the perfect picture of gentleness.

He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young. Isaiah 40:11

Goodness - Only God is good! When we are led by the Holy Spirit, His goodness, righteousness, and truth are displayed.

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Ephesians 5:9

Faithfulness - God Himself is totally faithful. He is faithful to keep the promises He has made.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Hebrews 10:23

Meekness - Describes how we are to humble and rely on God rather than ourselves or the people that surround us.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

TemperanceThe ability to have self-control to overcome temptation of sin not in our own strength but through the Holy Spirit.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

The Bible makes it very clear that the believer is sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise the moment they believe, repent and trust in Jesus Christ alone as Lord and Saviour through His death, burial, resurrection, and His precious blood shed on the cross to save us from all sin.

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 1:13

Blessings in Christ,

PANDEMIC, DISEASES, AND SICKNESSES

The Holy Bible says in the Old Testament that on many occasions God brought plagues and diseases on His people and on His enemies " that you mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth." "for to shew in thee my power."

For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth.
Exodus 9:14 KJV

And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
Exodus 9:16 KJV

God used plagues on Egypt to force Pharaoh to free the Israelites from bondage, to spare His people from being affected by them. Indicating His Sovereign control over diseases and other afflictions.

For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.
Exodus 12:12 KJV

And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
Exodus 12:13 KJV

God also warned His people of the consequences of disobedience including plagues, or suffer many evils.

And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.
Leviticus 26:21 KJV

The Lord shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
Deuteronomy 28:22 KJV

It’s sometimes hard to imagine our loving and merciful God displaying such wrath and anger towards His people. But God's punishments always have the goal of repentance and restoration.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV

In the New Testament, Jesus healed "every sickness and every disease among the people." "He gave His apostles and disciples power to heal all manner of sickness and disease.

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
Matthew 9:35 KJV

And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
Matthew 10:1 KJV

Just as God used plagues and disease to show His power to the Israelites in the Old Testament, Jesus in the New Testament healed as an exhibition of the same power to verify that He was truly the Son of God. Indicating His Sovereign control over all things.

For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues.
Mark 3:10 KJV

The spread of sickness and diseases is a foretaste of pandemics that will be a part of the end times.

And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
Luke 21:11 KJV

Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
Luke 21:26 KJV

For those who do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, pandemics, disease, sickness, etc should be a reminder that life on this earth can be lost at any moment. As bad as pandemics are hell will be worst!
The moment we humble ourselves repent, believe, trust and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, we pass from eternal death unto eternal life.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
John 5:24 KJV

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:6 KJV

The born again Christian, (John 3:3) however, has the assurance of Salvation and the hope of eternity because of the blood of Christ shed on the cross for us.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Hebrews 9:28 KJV

Fruits of the Spirit

One Way to Grace provides readers an insight into how trust and faith in the Holy Spirit radically alerted the path of David's life. The fruits, or gifts, of the Spirit are laid out clearly both in the life experiences of believers and indelibly within Scripture.
In this post David has asked his wife, Gay, to discuss with us the Fruits of the Spirit.
