The Holy Bible tells us about the blood from Genesis to Revelation and many people wonder why God demands blood. Blood stands for life. When blood leaves your body that means life is gone.
For the life of the flesh is in
the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for
your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Leviticus 17:11(KJV)
From the third chapter of Genesis, when
man was in the Garden of Eden and he broke God’s Law, he rebelled against God
and he found out that he was naked and God went out into the field and slew
some animals and shed some blood in order to take the skin and cover their
nakedness. From that moment on blood has been shed as a symbol of our
salvation.
Cain and Abel had apparently been
instructed how to worship God and Cain paid no attention, he brought some
vegetables to God as an offering, God rejected it. Abel brought a blood
sacrifice a calf and offered it to the Lord and God accepted it. Cain grew very
angry and very jealous of his brother and slew him. That was the first murder
and blood again was slain, shed in anger and war has been going on between
brothers and the human race ever since. Jesus said there will be wars and
rumours of wars till the end of time.
When Moses was down in Egypt, trying to
get the people out of Egypt, trying to get them into the promise land. He was
having this debate with Pharaoh. God said and you remember alright tell them
I’m going to kill the first born in all of Egypt tonight. Tell the Jewish people
to go out and slay a lamb without blemish and put the blood on the door post.
When I see the blood I will Passover, not when I see the good works and that
was the beginning of the Passover. God said when I see the blood I will
Passover you.
And the blood shall be to you
for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass
over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the
land of Egypt.
Exodus 12:13(KJV)
There are several great words on the power and
the value of the blood.
1. Redemption (which means deliverance)
Forasmuch as ye know that ye
were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain
conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood
of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1 Peter 1:18-19(KJV)
The Bible teaches that we as a human race
are in the pawnshop of the devil and by disobedience we’re enslaved spiritually
under his authority. Unable to redeem ourselves, and Christ died on the cross
and paid the price for our salvation and redeemed us by the giving of His own
blood. He gave His blood to pay for our sins to redeem us and if you’re not
under the blood you’re not going to heaven. You must be under the blood. Are
you sure that, that experience has been yours? You have to repent of sin and
receive Christ into your own heart.
2. Remission (which means forgiveness)
For this is my blood of the new
testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Matthew 26:28(KJV)
And almost all things are by the
law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Hebrews 9:22(KJV)
The
blood you see is a shadow and the type in the Old Testament and it was
sprinkled on the tabernacle, the vessels, the book, and the congregations
annually and this action enabled God to forgive sins. Divine justice was
satisfied and Divine mercy extended through the types of blood. And Jesus in
His death on the cross made possible the forgiveness of sins through His blood.
This is the heart of the gospel. There is no gospel but this.
3.
Justification (which means to be free from blame, to be proven innocent.)
But God commendeth his love
toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8(KJV)
We cannot do it ourselves its impossible.
You can work all your life and do good works and pay money to the church, but
that won’t justify you. The only thing that will justify you in heaven, on
earth or in hell is the blood of Jesus Christ, and justification means also
just as though you’re never sinned. That’s the power of the blood.
Being justified freely by his
grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Romans 3:24(KJV)
Notice His Grace, Grace is unmerited
favour, something we don’t deserve. We don’t deserve our sins forgiven, we
don’t deserve to go to heaven, we’ll be honest with you, we don’t deserve it,
we deserve hell, but we received forgiveness and justification and our names
written in the Book of Life, and we are going to receive heaven forever because
of the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
4.
Cleansing
But if we walk in the light, as
he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus
Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1 John 1:7(KJV)
When you come to the cross not only does
He cleanse all the past sins, but that blood is available for any present or
future sins. So that you stand before God justified and pure ready to go to
heaven. That’s a marvellous thing to have happen to you. God can no longer see
yours sins. We’re cleansed by the blood in the spiritual realm. The process is
that of repentance and faith to all who will forsake sin, God offers a new
chance. Wouldn’t that be wonderful a brand new start in life to be born from
above, to be born anew, to start over and all the past sins forgiven, that’s
what God offers you.
5.
Peace
And, having made peace through
the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I
say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Colossians 1:20(KJV)
Because of the blood of Jesus Christ we
can have peace. There are 3 types of peace spoken in the Bible. First is peace
with God. He makes peace at the cross. Then there’s the peace of God the Holy
Spirit produces in you, when you come to Christ you have a peace that you have
never known before. Think of the restlessness in the world today. Among so many
of us, the pressures that we live under but to think of having peace in the
midst of it all and then there is peace between nations and that’s going to
happen someday when Jesus comes back again and reign as King of Kings and Lord
of Lords. You can have that peace here and now. In the midst of the troubles
and trials, and discouragements of life and the pressures of life you can have
the peace of God which passeth all understanding.
If you have pardon from God you can stand
before anything in this world with peace in your heart, because if you’re ready
to die you’re ready to live. And you’ve already been pardoned because of Christ
free pardon for sin, we’re not afraid of anything at the judgement because of
the blood of Christ.
It was all done at the cross; it saves
sinners like you and me. Is the blood of Jesus Christ sprinkled on the door of
your heart? Will the judgement of God Passover you? Or are you going to face
the judgement of God? Which of it is it going to be?
With Blessing in Christ,
David & Gay
