We have all been hurt, wronged, and
offended in our lives, and we have also done the same to others. Sin is the
root of all evil. We are imperfect people with a sinful nature. Adam and Eve
disobeyed God Almighty in the Garden of Eden, and human beings have been
sinning against God ever since. Adam’s sin led him to die spiritually. We
inherited Adam and Eve’s sin; original sin is the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3).
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12
Forgiveness is an important part of the
life of a Bible-believing, born-again Christian. We have to forgive others just
as God has forgiven us.
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:31,32
Forgiving others means letting go of
bitterness, resentfulness, anger, and hurt you have experienced, as this only
causes tumult within and much pain. Unforgiveness is sin that leads to
self-righteousness and being self-centred instead of Christ-centred, which
steals our love, joy, and peace. When we forgive, we are reconciled and
restored within, which leads us to display the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22,23
We are told to cast off the old sin nature
and put on love, forbearing and forgiving one another.
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. Colossians 3:13
How often should we forgive one another?
Jesus said:
Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Matthew 18:21,22
Those who are in Christ have been forgiven
by God. Although it is not easy sometimes to forgive those who wronged us, we
are to trust God for justice, and we must forgive the other person who offended
us.
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Romans 12:19
You should be aware of the importance of having
your name written in the book of life, because if not, hell is waiting, and
that is not God’s will for you. Be sure you’re saved!
And whosoever was not found
written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15
God Almighty provided a way for everyone
to be saved, and that way is through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. God
provided a Saviour for all humanity, and it is up to you to appropriate the
atonement by receiving, believing, repent and trust in Jesus Christ alone
through His death, burial, and resurrection, and His holy and precious blood
will cleanse you from all sin. In Jesus Christ, we have redemption—the
forgiveness of sins.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
In whom
we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Colossians 1:14
Blessings in Christ.
