THE CROSS
The cross is where Christ died as a substitute by offering Himself as a sacrifice to atone for sins and
reconcile His people to God.
In whom we have redemption
through his blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of
his grace;
Ephesians 1:7(KJV)
And, having made peace
through the blood of his cross,
by him to reconcile all
things unto himself; by him, I say,
whether they be things in
earth, or things in heaven.
Colossians 1:20(KJV)
It is where the Creator died for the created, the just
died for the unjust, God died for sinful
man.
For Christ also hath once
suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God,
being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
1 Peter 3:18(KJV)
It is where God’s
love and justice were upheld. His
justice was satisfied as Christ voluntarily bore the punishment of His
people. God’s love provided one way for His people to be saved.
Whom God hath set forth to
be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for
the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
Romans 3:25(KJV)
But God commendeth his
love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8(KJV)
It is a reminder of how revolting and detestable sin
is to God. Not sparing His own Son, God
crushed Jesus for bearing our sin.
Who his own self bare our
sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto
righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
1 Peter 2:24(KJV)
