Hallowed Be Thy Name
All true prayers to Our Father the Lord God Almighty starts not with asking for ourselves but with adoring, magnifying, and worshiping the Holy name of Our Father which art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy name. What does that mean? Hallowed comes from the Greek word Hagios meaning Holy.
Our faith is a Holy faith.
Our book is the Holy Bible.
Our Saviour is the Holy Child Jesus the Son of God.
Our city is the Holy city, the New Jerusalem.
Our spirit is the Holy Spirit.
Our psalms Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty that was and is and forever shall be.
Our God is a Holy God.
The Bible says be ye holy as I am Holy.
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.-1 Peter 1:16 (KJV)
Why is reverence to God's name so urgent?
Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me forever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.-1 Samuel 2:30 (KJV)
Honour means to exalt, to promote, to favour. You can go further in God's favour in a day than you can in a lifetime in your own effort. God's favour is better and more precious than gold, silver, rubies, emeralds, and all precious stones. Do you want God's favour? Then honour the name of God. The name of God can only be hallowed when every action of your life is in witness to the adoration of Him.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.-Psalm 23:3 (KJV)
The point is when you do the right thing from which the word righteousness comes, it brings glory to His name. Reverence is the gateway to the knowledge of God.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.-Proverbs 1:7 (KJV)
The day that you recognize that there is someone more important than you. Whose wisdom is greater than yours? Who holds the universe in the palm of His hand? Who has counted the hairs on your head and gives you the power to take the next breath? Then you will honour God and honour Him only. Where there is no fear of God there is no knowledge. Truth and knowledge comes from God.
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.-2 Timothy 3:7 (KJV)
The first time God allows His name to be known is 'Jehovah Jireh'. Most people say that means God is our provider. Actually translated in Hebrew means 'God sees'. God's vision leads to provision. When He sees it He takes care of it. He is the all seeing God. God sees the trouble that is ahead of you, He already has the answer to provide for you.
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.-Hebrews 4:13 (KJV)
The second name 'Jehovah Nissi' The Lord our banner. Banner is a symbol of war. The Lord is our banner. He is the Lord of Host who leads the fight.
Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.-2 Timothy 2:3 (KJV)
The third name 'Jehovah Raah' The Lord is my shepherd.
Psalm 23
The fourth name 'Jehovah Rophe' The Lord is my healer.
The healer of the sick body.
The healer of the broken hearts.
The healer of the tormented minds.
The healer of the emotions that are out of control.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.-Isaiah 53:4-5 (KJV)
The Fifth name 'Jehovah M'Kaddesh' which is Holiness. Holiness means inward likeness of God. If God is Holy how can an unholy man be in His presence? When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour your sins were forgiven, but you still have character defects. When I went to the cross and confess my sin, Jesus gave to me imputed righteousness. It means that Jesus took His robe of righteousness that's absolutely white. He draped it around me and from the exterior I am as white as snow, from every direction. Whenever Satan comes and accuses me before the Lord and accuses you (those who have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour) before the Lord. Don't you see his imperfection, don't you see his flaws, God say's all I can see is the righteousness of my Son given at the cross. They’re whiter than the snow. Leave them alone those are my children.
Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.-Psalm 99:5 (KJV)
The sixth name 'Jehovah shammah' The Lord who is there. Have you heard people say " I'll be there for you". Sure if you get in trouble they are not there. Human beings are incapable of being there all the time, but the God that we serve will always be there.
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.-Psalm 139:8 (KJV)
Let's talk about one element. The peace of mind is the greatest treasure a person can have. There is no peace without God's approval. Peace is a gift of God, You don't get it if you're at war with God. Until people say Hallowed be thy name and mean it from the deepest recesses of their soul. When you do not honour the name of the Lord, God removes His shield of protection and the unimaginable happens.
Let the revival and reverence of His name begin from house to house from heart to heart. Let His name be glorified in all of the earth, Let us say "Our Father which art in heaven Hallowed be thy name...,Amen.
