One Way to Grace provides readers an insight into how trust and faith in the Holy Spirit radically alerted the path of David's life. The fruits, or gifts, of the Spirit are laid out clearly both in the life experiences of believers and indelibly within Scripture.
In this post David has asked his wife, Gay, to discuss with us the Fruits of the Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
-Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
The “Fruit of the Spirit” is what happens when the Holy Spirit indwells a born again believer in Jesus Christ. The fruit is the product of the Holy Spirit’s cultivation of character in heart. It is not given, it is developed. It is given us in seed when Christ is come to live in us.

Love

We cannot produce the type of love God Almighty desires without the leading and strength of the Holy Spirit. This love is God’s love working through us to be kind and to consider another’s needs greater than one’s own.
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
-Philippians 2:3-4 (KJV)

Joy

Joy expresses God’s Kingdom.
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
-Romans 14:17 (KJV)
Our greatest reason to be joyful is that God wants to save us and spend eternity with us. Nothing is greater than this.
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
-Luke 15:7 (KJV)

 Peace

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
-Romans 12:18 (KJV)
At birth, our sinful nature has already declared war on God and His truth. But God’s methods of warfare are not what we expected. Instead of a battle, he sent us the Prince of Peace.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
-Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)

Longsuffering (Patience)

A patient person is able to endure much pain and suffering.
And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
-2 Thessalonians 3:5 (KJV)

Gentleness

Jesus gave us the perfect picture of gentleness.
He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
-Isaiah 40:11 (KJV)

Goodness

Goodness is a virtue and holiness in action. It results in a life characterized by deeds motivated by righteousness and a desire to be a blessing for others.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
-James 1:17 (KJV)
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
-Matthew 5:16 (KJV)

Faithfulness

Faith is a carefulness in keeping that with which we were entrusted. It is the conviction that the scriptures accurately reflect reality.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
-Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Meekness

When we exhibit the meekness of God we are tender, benevolent, and useful to others.
It is also a gift from Jesus Christ that we can lean unto Him.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
-Matthew 11:28 (KJV)

Temperance

The fruit of the Spirit is the change in our character that comes about because of the work in us done by the Holy Spirit. The ability to say no to sin not in our own strength but lead by the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ.
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
-Romans 6:6 (KJV)

With Blessing in Christ,

David & Gay
